You may feel panicked or overwhelmed if you’re trying to find a provider offering APR. After all, realizing that you wish to continue your pregnancy can create extra stress, especially since timing is crucial.
The good news is it’s more straightforward than you may think. We’ll outline everything you need to know–we care about your situation.
Your First Step
If you’re unsure who to speak with about APR, it’s best to contact the Abortion Pill Rescue Network. Their 24/7 helpline will help you locate providers in your area who can help, and they’ll support you in finding additional resources.
Some, but not all, pregnancy centers also provide APR. Cleburne Pregnancy Center currently doesn’t offer APR, but we’re here if you need emotional support or someone to talk to during this experience.
Understanding APR
APR consists of taking progesterone to counteract the effects of mifepristone, the abortion drug that blocks this hormone. While it isn’t a universally recognized approach, APR can be successful, especially when utilized promptly.
According to one study, progesterone (administered intramuscularly) continued pregnancies in 64% of cases. However, the longer you wait, the less likely APR could work.
Progesterone is safe; it has sustained pregnancies for over 50 years. It isn’t known to cause birth defects at a rate higher than that of the general population. However, speaking with the medical provider and getting any questions answered is always essential.
We Care About You
Cleburne Pregnancy Center provides free, confidential medical services for women with unplanned pregnancies. We can offer support at any stage of your pregnancy decision-making process, though we do not refer for or provide abortions.
